The Lab

Flower remedies work on an energetic and emotional level, helping to gently shift patterns, beliefs and emotional responses that may be ready to change. They don’t suppress or override emotions, instead they support our system in processing them with more ease and clarity.
How Flower Remedies Work

Flower remedies are traditionally used to support emotional balance by gently addressing patterns of thought and feeling rather than suppressing symptoms.

Rather than acting chemically in the body, flower remedies are understood to work subtly, supporting awareness, resilience and a return to emotional equilibrium.

Taken consistently, they may help shift unhelpful patterns over time and encourage a steadier, more balanced response to life’s experiences.

Bach History

Bach Flower Remedies were developed in the 1930s by Dr Edward Bach, a British physician and bacteriologist who believed emotional wellbeing was central to physical health. While working with patients during World War I, he observed that those who remained hopeful often recovered more fully - reinforcing his conviction that our emotional state influences the body’s ability to heal.

Sharing homeopathy’s belief in the body’s innate self-healing capacity, Dr Bach sought a system that addressed the person, not just the illness. He left his successful London practice and moved to the English countryside, where he began working with flowering plants and trees.

Over time, he developed a complete system of 38 flower essences, each corresponding to a distinct emotional state. His remedies continue to be used around the world as a gentle, traditional way to support emotional balance and restore inner harmony.

How a flower remedy is Made

Blossoms are gathered at their peak, often in the early morning and placed in a bowl of pure spring water in direct sunlight.

Over several hours, the energetic imprint of the flower is gently transferred into the water. Dr. Edward Bach described this process as working in harmony with the elements: earth, air, sun and water.

The infused water is then preserved to create what is known as the “mother essence.” This is carefully diluted and blended into dosage bottles using pure spring water and a natural preservative such as organic brandy or organic glycerine.

How to Take a Flower Remedy

Take 4 drops, 4 times a day, ideally spaced throughout the day.

You can place the drops directly under your tongue or add them to a glass of water and sip slowly.

Consistency matters far more than perfection - simply return to the remedy each day and allow it to become part of your rhythm.

Flower remedies work subtly over time, so regular use supports deeper integration. As Dr Edward Bach wrote, they are “like beautiful music… able to raise our very natures, and bring us nearer to our souls.”

What to Expect

Flower remedies work gently and subtly.

Most people notice gradual shifts rather than dramatic changes - a little more awareness, a little more steadiness, or a softer response to situations that once felt overwhelming.

They don’t suppress emotions or force change. Instead, they support you in processing what’s already there, helping restore a sense of balance over time.

Some people feel small shifts within days; for others, it unfolds more gradually. Emotional patterns that have been present for a long time may take longer to rebalance, which is why consistency is important.

As Dr Edward Bach described, remedies work by encouraging a return to inner harmony - supporting the natural resilience that already exists within you.

Timings & Subtle Shifts

Flower remedies tend to work quietly and cumulatively. Many people notice small shifts around day 3, and again around day 21 - though this isn’t a rule, simply a rhythm some experience.

The changes are often subtle: a softened reaction, a steadier response, or a moment of calm where there wasn’t one before.

Like learning a piece of music, the effects build through steady listening (or daily drops). You may not notice dramatic changes at first - only to realise weeks later, “I don’t feel like x anymore.”

Their quiet, gradual nature is part of their strength, gently supporting lasting change without force or intensity.

Emotional Release & Sensitivity

Occasionally, you may notice feeling slightly more emotional in the early days.

This can show up as tearfulness, vivid dreams, or old memories surfacing. If this happens, it is usually gentle and temporary.

Flower remedies don’t force emotions to appear, but they can support greater awareness of what’s already present. Sometimes that means feelings rise into consciousness so they can be acknowledged and processed.

Many practitioners describe flower remedies as “adaptogens for the emotions” - supporting balance rather than overwhelm. They work at a pace that respects your system, encouraging integration rather than intensity.

FLEUR'S STORY

Fleur is a registered practitioner with the Bach Flower and Vibrational Essences Association (BFVEA), trained in the traditional Bach system alongside contemporary essences. She creates each blend for Fleur Remedies through careful listening, research, professional knowledge and intuitive understanding - honouring our unique emotional landscapes.

Her journey with flower remedies began in 2020, following a diagnosis with an autoimmune condition. Like many people, she found herself searching for deeper ways to support both body and mind. Studies in nutrition, naturopathy and holistic health strengthened her belief in the body’s innate ability to restore balance - but it was discovering flower remedies that truly resonated.

Alongside nourishing foods and gentle wellbeing practices, flower remedies became the missing piece of the puzzle. They allowed her to address long-held emotions and shift patterns, supporting her healing on a deeper level. She began blending remedies for friends and family, and after witnessing the subtle but meaningful shifts in those around her, she felt called to share this work more widely.

When she’s not working with remedies, you’ll find her cooking or fermenting food, making jewellery at Couper et Coudre, designing sewing patterns at Motif Studios, or musing about all the above over on Substack - always guided by nature, creativity and curiosity.

MADE IN THE UK

All Fleur Remedies blends are created in the UK using traditional flower essences and pure spring water. Each bottle is prepared with care, rooted in the landscapes and seasonal rhythms that inspire the work.

HANDCRAFTED IN SMALL BATCHES

Every remedy is mixed slowly by hand in small batches to ensure freshness, quality and intention. This allows each blend to receive the time and attention it deserves - never rushed, never mass produced.

ORGANIC AND NATURAL

Ingredients are chosen for their purity, simplicity and alignment with nature.

Every flower essence blend is hand crafted with spring water, organic brandy or glycerine and flower remedies hand picked from the English countryside.

Completely natural, free from side effects, and safe to take alongside any medication. Flower remedies are gentle enough for children, pregnant women and those with sensitive health conditions.

Pure AND Considered Ingredients

Spring Water: Our remedies are then gently blended with pure spring water drawn from a protected catchment area surrounded by ancient oak woodland and moorland nature reserves.

Naturally filtered over many years through layers of rock some 50 metres below ground, the water is enriched with balanced minerals and is virtually free from nitrates and nitrites - reflecting the purity of the land from which it flows.

Spring water has been central to the Bach tradition since the 1930s, valued for its clarity and natural vitality.

-

Organic Brandy: We preserve our remedies using a beautifully crafted organic brandy, aged for ten years for exceptional smoothness and depth.

It comes from a small, family-owned vineyard in the renowned Fins Bois region of France, where organic methods and generations of traditional know-how create an elegant, refined spirit of remarkable purity.

Brandy has been used as a natural preservative in the Bach flower remedy tradition since the 1930s, chosen for its stability and simplicity.
